6-16 Weeks of Age: The class content is geared toward the puppy’s socialisation and environmental exposure period.
C3 Vaccination: To ensure the health and safety of our other student’s, puppies are required to have had their first C3 vaccination. We require owners to bring in their vaccination card upon attending their first class.
Flea & Worming: We ask that all students are up to date with their flea and worming treatments.
Classes take place at two locations, Subiaco Vet Hospital located at 107 Railway Road, Subiaco and Shelley Vet Clinic located at 1/173 High Road, Willetton.
The training area’s we use are disinfected before each class as your puppy’s health and safety is of the utmost importance to us and we understand that not all puppies will have had all their vaccination.
Our courses run over 4 weeks back to back with reading and training material provided between classes.
Classes at Subiaco Vet Hospital are held on Thursdays from 7:00pm to 8:00pm
Classes at Shelley Vet Clinic are held on Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Our classes work toward building a puppy’s confidence and developing new environmental pictures which they will carry for the rest of their lives. Each course looks to develop puppies in the following areas:
- Exposure to surfaces
- Interactions with other puppies and people
- Understanding basic obedience (hand targeting, sit, drop, roll, stay)
- Mental enrichment activities
Of course, training a puppy relies on their owner. Our courses also focus on providing the necessary information to owners to develop their puppy and provide ongoing care. The course provides owners with information on the following areas:
- Health care
- Nutrition and feeding
- Training foundations
- Positive reinforcement training
- Teaching hand targeting, sit, drop, roll and stay
- Toilet training
- Mental enrichment
- Crate training
- Dog body language
We require puppies to be wearing a flat collar or training harness and be on lead during training sessions except where instructed, typically during play time.
During training sessions, we encourage direct family members to attend and we welcome a diverse group of people for the benefit of the puppies. We ask that any children under the age of 13 be supervised by an accompanying adult and limit group sizes to 4 people per puppy due to the size of the training area.
